Chantal Freeman is a soprano originally from Chicago, Illinois. She received her B.A. in Music and Theology from Fordham University in 2013. Upon graduation, she relocated to Philadelphia to study with master vocal teacher Antonio Conte Pugliese. While in Philadelphia, she performed as part of the Amici Opera Company, Main Line Opera Guild’s Concert Series and as a studio artist at the Russian Opera Workshop. In 2018, Chantal sang the role of Elle in La Voix Humaine by Francis Poulenc at Chicago Summer Opera. She received her Master of Music degree from the Butler School of Music of the University of Texas in 2019. As part of the Butler Opera Center she sang in the chorus of Verdi’s Falstaff and covered the role of Servillia in Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito. In 2019, she performed the role of Josephine with Gilbert and Sullivan of Austin. Also in 2019, she was a finalist in the NANM Marian Anderson Vocal Award Competition and was the 3rd place winner in Harlem Opera Theater’s Vocal Competition in October that year. In 2020, she was a semi-finalist with Young Concert Artists in New York City. She was a student of acclaimed soprano, the late Ruth Falcon. She now studies with Arthur Levy and coaches with Susan Caldwell in NYC. Most recently in May 2021, Chantal completed her Professional Studies Diploma at Mannes School of Music and was awarded the prestigious Richard F. Gold Career Grant by the Shoshana Foundation.
