Angel Romero
Angel is currently a second year Tenor with the Pittsburgh Opera Company. While at PGHO, Angel has performed Oronte in Alcina and Ferrando in Così fan tutte. He was scheduled to perform Remendado in Carmen and Flavio in Norma, but was later canceled due to COVID. Angel is currently a semi finalist for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and will be seen perform on May 9, 2021.

Biography

Angel Romero

Angel is currently a second year Tenor with the Pittsburgh Opera Company. While at PGHO, Angel performed the roles of Oronte in Alcina and Ferrando in Così fan tutte. He was scheduled to perform Remendado in Carmen and Flavio in Norma, but was later canceled due to COVID. Angel was previously seen at The Santa Fe Opera and Central City Opera. While at Santa Fe, Angel covered The Prune Man in La Boheme and performed a public master class with famous soprano Renee Fleming. While at Central City Opera, Angel was seen performing the roles of Ruiz in il Trovatore and Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte. Outside of opera performances, Angel was seen at Houston Grand Opera as a finalist, third place and audience favorite recipient for the Eleanor McCollum Competition. In concert, Angel has performed as the tenor soloist in Beethoven 9 under the baton of Marin Alsop. He has also performed The Governor and Vanderdendur in Candide with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony under the baton of Toshiyuki Shimada. Angel received his formal training from Yale University (MM) and Houston Baptist University (BM).
