Micah Gleason has been recognized for her diverse abilities as a vocalist and conductor. Micah has performed in concert as the alto soloist in the Mozart Requiem, Bach Magnificat in D, and Rachmaninoff Vespers, to name a few; as well as multiple operatic roles and chamber music concerts. An enthusiastic proponent of song, Micah has trained and performed at Vancouver International Song Institute, SongFest, Source Song Festival, and Resound: Immersive Song Exploration at Crested Butte Music Festival, where she collaborated with several notable living composers. Interdisciplinary collaboration and community building are at the core of Micah’s music-making. She is curious about the most effective ways to disrupt the stasis of the modern concert hall, and how artists, activists, and researchers can most effectively collaborate. Micah has appeared with professional ensembles including the Grant Park Symphony Chorus and the American Symphony Orchestra Chorale; and served as the Alto Artist in Residence at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel at The University of Chicago for two years, where she was a regularly-featured soloist. She is pursuing master’s degrees in Conducting and Vocal Arts at Bard College-Conservatory of Music under James Bagwell and Stephanie Blythe. Micah was recognized by the Gena Brandscombe Project with the 2020 Emerging Conductor Honorable Mention. Upcoming performances include leading The Orchestra Now in a performance of works by Mahler and Gabriela Lena Frank, and performing as a featured soloist in György Kurtág’s Kafka Fragments.
