Biography

Taylor Burkhardt

Taylor Burkhardt lives and breathes opera and art song. Currently, she holds the position of Resident Artist Pianist at Utah Opera in Salt Lake City, UT. Taylor has previously worked at Mill City Summer Opera, Kentucky Opera, Virginia Opera, and the Atlanta Opera, where she played and coached several mainstage and educational productions. She is also a passionate educator and has been a faculty coach at Spotlight on Opera for two seasons. As a song partner, Taylor has a rich, broad repertoire that she has performed at venues including Source Song Festival, the Missouri Theatre, and Hahn Hall in Santa Barbara, CA. She also enjoys chamber music work when possible and recently combined her love of opera and chamber music to create her doctoral thesis at the University of Minnesota, an arrangement of La voix humaine by Francis Poulenc for piano quartet and soprano. An avid proponent of new music, she recently prepared rehearsals for the world premiere of Matthew Aucoin's Crossing Suite, has performed Stephen Hough's Other Love Songs in the four-hands version with the composer himself, has performed under the supervision of composers Edie Hill, Jocelyn Hagen, David Biedenbender, Andrew List, and Nick Omiccioli, and has been a part of over twenty world premieres. Her teachers include Timothy Lovelace, Margo Garrett, Warren Jones, and Peter Miyamoto.
