Alison Pogorelc is an American director of opera, theater, and film who seeks to create multidisciplinary work which challenges engagement with traditionally classical forms. Currently, Alison is collaborating with Early Music Now in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to create short films inspired by the music of the Medieval, Renaissance, and early Baroque periods. Her upcoming film, Sleep hath its own world, utilizes music by Luigi Rossi, Claudio Monteverdi, and others, to explore the world of dreams. The project combines early music instrumentation with voice and dance and will be released in April 2021. In December 2020, Alison joined the Florentine Opera as their Resident Artist Director for the Winter & Spring 2020/21 season. Recently, she assisted on the Bronzeville La boheme School Tour and will assist director Jill Anna Ponasik on Weill’s Mahagonny-Songspiel in the spring. This summer 2021, Alison will join The Glimmerglass Festival as a Young Artist Director for their re-imagined outdoor performances. Alison will assist on new adaptations of Mozart's The Magic Flute and Verdi's Il trovatore. Beginning in fall 2021, Alison will move to Cincinnati, Ohio to obtain her artist diploma in opera directing at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
